SLEEPY JONES GIVEAWAY!

"Sit back. Stare at the ceiling. Stay awhile. We're starting a little movement of non-movement." So begins the story of Sleepy Jones, a sleepwear company whose classic pajama sets are the stuff dreams are made of. Inspired by creative types who'd sooner die than don a suit and tie, the line was made for working from home and lounging around on weekends. Suffice it to say I've found my new morning uniform.

How fun are these shots from Nantucket? I've slept in my Marina top with and without the matching bottoms and the Tauba shorts have been a a no-brainer for morning coffee on my fire escape since returning to the city. Fred's lucky I didn't try to steal his Henry shirt during our trip (though why borrow from the boys when you could have your very own Swiss dot robe?!).

The best part, of course, is that one of you will win the pajama set of your choice! Just follow the steps in the widget below and we'll draw the winner on Friday morning (so you can spend the weekend pondering your perfect PJs). Thanks, Sleepy Jones!

WISH YOU WERE HERE

Sankaty Head Light
The prettiest hydrangeas you ever did see
Group skinnydip... Shhh! ;)

Popping in from Nantucket to say a quick hello and share a few pictures from the past couple days! We had Amy, Carly, Emily, and Fred out to our house and have been filling our days with beach naps, coffee runs, ice cream cones, and even a little sailboat ride (crossing it off my 101 in 1001 list as we speak!). I'm trying to unplug as much as possible but you know I couldn't resist Instagram and Pinterest for a whole week ;)

PHOTOS FROM NANTUCKET...

She's going to kill me for this but please allow me one moment to brag about my friend Amy's photography. Honestly I get by on Instagram but Amy's snaps from our weekend on Nantucket had me wondering whether we were even on the same island. She has the best eye for color and composition — it was kind of amazing to just watch her at work. I'm so excited to be working with her on a few upcoming projects — stay tuned!

Here are a few of my favorite photographs she took last week. Beaches + family + girlfriends + hydrangeas + iced coffee + my favorite place on earth... You can bet I'm already counting down the days until we head back!

P.S. How gorgeous is my grandmother's lightship basket? It was a gift from my grandfather :) I love that she paired it with her Design Darling bangle

P.P.S. Check out Amy's blog here and be sure to follow her on Instagram! You won't regret it.

A RAINY DAY ON NANTUCKET

A few snapshots of a rainy day spent popping into shops in my favorite place in the world...

Eye of the Needle, 14 Federal Street

Milly & Grace, 2 Washington Street

I'll spare you the evidence of the bright green oversized raincoat I fished out of my grandmother's closet for the occasion. ;)

WHAT'S YOUR DREAM HOME?

Let's do a little Tuesday morning daydreaming, shall we? I think it's such fun to think about the future and play pretend about where I might live ten, twenty, or thirty years from now. I grew up spending summers on Nantucket and can imagine nothing more perfect than a 'Sconset cottage with weathered shingles, perfect hedges, and this lovely little chandelier hanging somewhere inside. I'd love to know what your dream home looks like: a cottage by the sea? a Parisian pied-Ă -terre? a suburban manse? Do tell!

P.S. Peruse more dream homes here and here.

INSTAGRAM UPDATES

Favorite snaps from last week's trip to Nantucket...
A new read I'm loving // My new favorite ballet flats (now on sale!) // Bangles from Design Darling and J.Crew // Carrying Coach onto the ferry
Exterior inspiration // Waking up to this little guy // The needlepoint belt my grandmother is making for me!
Flowers, lobster, and my grandmother's lightship basket
Iced coffee // Rachel Pally dress // Shopping in town (loved this picnic basket and this bedding)

It's funny how many pictures I take when I'm out and about! Believe me when I say my daily life looks more like me in front of my laptop wearing pajamas ;) Do you have any summer trips planned?

EXTERIORS & HYDRANGEAS

One of my favorite things to do on Nantucket is buy an iced coffee in town (or an ice cream cone in 'Sconset!) and walk around looking at all the pretty houses and gardens. This trip's takeaway? You can never have too many hydrangeas!

On that note, I think I have a new favorite color: hydrangea blue. Toss it in the mix with hot pink, navy blue, and white and that's my dream color palette at the moment. Do you love hydrangeas as much as I do?

P.S. You can always find more exterior inspiration here!

SUMMER LOVIN'

A few highlights from last week's jaunt to Nantucket...
Family meals and Design Darling topiaries at the dinner table // Morning strolls around town, iced lattĂ©s in hand // Quality time with my adorable grandmother (and number one fan) // Wearing this tunic to the beach and to dinner // Traveling home in this dress (and possibly never taking it off)

It requires a four hour drive and a two hour ferry ride but somehow family trips to Nantucket are always worth the while. Note to self: schedule next weekend trip asap!

DESIGN DARLING ON SHOPBOP'S SHOPTALK

As a full-time blogger I write a lot of guest posts (sometimes it feels like a full-time job in and of itself!). Every now and then a really cool opportunity comes along — like the chance to post on Shopbop's blog Shoptalk
I decided to put together a little packing list for my upcoming trip to Nantucket. I already own the dress and the sunglasses but I'm definitely eyeing the tote and the wedges for the Fourth of July! Shop the full post on Shopbop's blog here and let me know what you think!

Nantucket.

I'm spending a few days in our home on Nantucket with my family before my final week in Connecticut. After this, it's errands, interviews, packing, and — next Saturday — San Francisco!

sand art

do you remember making sand art as a child? i decided to try an only slightly more sophisticated project this past weekend to bring a bit of the beach into my new bedroom. my family owns a summer home on nantucket, where my cousins and i have spent much of each summer on the beach or working in retail. this summer is a different story (in the best way, of course!) but that's no reason not to include my favorite island in my future boudoir.
first i traced the island and taped it into the back of an 11" x 14" canvas ($8 at michaels).
since it was still a little tough to see the tracing through the canvas, my detail-oriented dad took matters into his own hands. (note his shirt!)
the fruits of his labor.
i painted around the island, let it dry, and then used paper cement ($9 at michaels) to glue sand onto the white part of the canvas.
et voilĂ ! it's far from perfect but it'll be a lovely reminder of summertime come winter at bucknell.

what diy projects have you taken on lately? i would love to hear from you!
