#TUCKERNUCKING

On Carly:

On Mackenzie:

Carly and I took these pictures a few weeks ago on the first true spring day in New York and just looking at the photos brings back happy memories. It's always such a treat to work with the Tuckernuck team! They sent over our favorite pieces from their spring collection and scouted out the cutest streets around Washington Square Park to shoot for their blog. After taking pictures, we stopped by Rosemary's for a bite to eat, a glass of rosé, and plenty of girl talk... truly the perfect spring afternoon. Do check out Tuckernuck's new arrivals for spring — there's a lot to love. A few of my favorites in the slideshow below!

MONOGRAMMED NECKLACE GIVEAWAY!

Amy and I took these photos en route to the Tribeca Film Festival over the weekend (I just subbed the flats out for heels — a must for walking in the city!). I had been coveting this striped dress since seeing it on Pinterest months and months ago and pounced when I found it on sale for 50% off online. And I've gotten so many compliments on these new baby blue loafers from Sole Society — they really are the perfect walking shoe and at a price that makes them too good to resist.

Now let's talk about the necklace. It's by Denver jeweler Elizoebeth Jensen, whose designs are perfect for everyday wear and available in sterling silver, yellow gold, and rose gold. When she offered to send me a necklace, I chose the Gables necklace in yellow gold with a three-letter monogram (though I also love the Shield Crest necklace!). Her jewelry is the perfect gift for ladies of all ages — I would love to have one made for Mother's Day! Elizoebeth is kindly giving away one necklace to a lucky Design Darling reader so decide which necklace you'd most like to receive and follow the steps in the widget below! I'll be contacting the winner on Sunday. Good luck! Oh and if you decide you can't wait until then, use code DESIGNDARLING20 for 20% off at checkout :)

VINEYARD VINES KENTUCKY DERBY

This post combines two of my favorite things about blogging: getting to work with brands I admire and getting to collaborate with friends I adore. When Vineyard Vines asked if Carly, Hallie, Jess, and I would be up for styling a few looks from their Kentucky Derby collection, I couldn't have been more excited. Here are a few snaps from our afternoon at the Waldorf...

Wearing this seersucker dress and these metallic flats!

Did anyone else live for silly straws as a kid?!

How fun is Hallie's striped hat?

Loved this top on Carly.

Wouldn't be a derby shoot without mint juleps! (Psst, order your mint julep cups while they're still in stock!)

Such a cute shot of Jess on Park Avenue outside the hotel!

Have I mentioned I love a dress with pockets?!

It was such a fun afternoon and a lovely reminder of why I love what I do. Big thanks to Vineyard Vines for the pretty dress, the Waldorf Astoria for the perfect setting, and Rebecca for the gorgeous photos! Be sure to shop the full Kentucky Derby collection here and check out full looks on Bows & Sequins, Corals & Cognacs, and The College Prepster. And mark your calendar — the Kentucky Derby is Saturday, May 3!

OUTFIT {AUSTIN BOUND}

Thank you all for your helpful tips for visiting Austin! I am so excited to explore the capital of live music and visit your favorite boutiques and cafés. Above are a few of the things I'll be packing for the trip: easy t-shirts (this one's on sale for $18!), the perfect white pants (last seen here), and casual accessories like a floppy sun hat and leather tote. The bag is really great quality for the price and will be the perfect carry-on, not to mention my new everyday bag since it fits my laptop! Three cheers for cute basics on a budget.

OUTFIT {NORDSTROM FAVORITES}

Julie Vos necklace  //  Clare Vivier clutch  //  Sole Society heels c/o (old, similar)

When Nordstrom asked me to help spread the word about some of their emerging designers,  I was excited to purchase something a little outside my comfort zone. That's what I love about Nordstrom: they carry my favorite basics (these jeans, for instance) but mix it up with lots of fun new-to-me designers as well. I settled on this Sandro top, a beige silk number with a cutout back and leather trim. It's a little dressier and more edgy than I typically wear but the quality is amazing and it's a fun piece for date night... or around town if you throw a navy blazer on top! Business in the front, party in the back. ;) Shop a few more of my Nordstrom favorites here:

OUTFIT {JUST THE CLASSICS}

This outfit includes so many of my current favorite pieces that I think we should just refer to this post as my spring uniform going forward. It's a look so classic that I could look back twenty years from now and not regret a single piece, which has become my unofficial metric for a favorite outfit. First of all: this boy shirt, which is as cute on its own as it is layered under a sweater. Second: these pants, which I cannot believe cost just $35. They would be perfect for wearing to work in a traditional office and come in a ton of colors so you can stock up for the whole season. They're made of a heavyweight cotton that feels way more pricey than it is and have just the right amount of stretch thanks to 5% spandex. Yes please! Next: this clutch, a Christmas gift that I have been dying to bust out for spring, and my Brandy Pham ring, which you've seen me wear a million times and you'll probably see a million more because I just love it that much. And finally the shoes, which are just a little bit higher than this J.Crew pair and insanely flattering (I can't wait to wear them with dresses once it warms up). What about you — what pieces are in heavy rotation in your wardrobe right now?

OUTFIT: KATE SPADE TRENCH

Kate Spade bag c/o (available at the Madison Avenue flagship, similar bag here)  //  Kate Spade boots

Say hello to my new favorite item of clothing: this killer navy trench from Kate Spade. It was literally love at first sight. I spotted it at their flagship store, tried it on, and just couldn't leave the store without it. I knew it was exactly the kind of classic piece my closet would thank me for. Luckily I had a gift card to make it a little more affordable — and luckily for you, it's now on sale! I'm telling you: this is the perfect jacket for spring and fall. It cinches at the waist for a super flattering shape and has the cutest bow detail on the back of the collar... Yup, it's definitely love!

OUTFIT: LESLIE TESSLER CAPE

Kate Spade bag c/o (available exclusively at the Madison Avenue flagship, also love this one available online!)

I've been wanting a cape coat for, let's see, just about forever. When I learned about Leslie Tessler, I knew I needed to add one of her pieces to my closet sooner rather than later. She has so many gorgeous designs but I settled on the classic trench cape and I couldn't be happier. It's a little bit outside of my comfort zone but still totally classic and perfect for transitioning from winter to spring. I layered it over my new favorite t-shirt for an afternoon in SoHo and had three separate women stop me on the street to ask who made it. So I'm extra excited that Leslie is generously offering 25% off all her designs with code DARLINGCAPE at checkout. If you're looking for a recommendation, I'm crazy for this and this!

P.S. Need more inspiration on styling a cape? Voilà.

OUTFIT {OLD NAVY RAIN COAT}

I get a few emails a week about where to buy preppy pieces on a budget which is why I'm beyond excited to be partnering with Old Navy to bring you budget-friendly looks true to my personal style throughout the next year. Each outfit post will feature a piece or two available that month at Old Navy mixed in with pieces already in heavy rotation in my wardrobe (how many times have you seen these Rag & Bone jeans?). I think it will be a great way to show you how I'm mixing in affordable finds with investment staples. I hope you're as excited as I am!

I'm of the mindset that a girl cannot own too many striped shirts and sweaters. This outfit is kind of a hybrid between this and this — a lot of navy with an easy everyday sweater and the perfect rain coat. I've mentioned my search for rain coats before so I was pretty excited to find this one. 1) It's my favorite color, 2) it has a hood, 3) it cinches at the waist, 4) that striped lining, 5) it costs $45. That, my friends, is what we call a no-brainer. ;)
