GAL PALS

This. Weekend. Was. AwesomeDenver is such a beautiful city and everyone we met was so fun and down-to-earth. But mostly it was just great to be reunited with a few of my college girlfriends. The friends I lived with my senior year live all over the country and I forget how much I miss seeing and talking to them every day. While I love New York and the besties I have here (Amy, Carly, and Emily to name a few), I really miss having a big group of friends who all live on the same street and are always down to come over or go out at a moment's notice. I know I'm not the first to say it but New York is definitely not the easiest place to meet people and make new friends!

Do you have a ton of friends in your city? Did you have a hard time adjusting to "real world" friendships outside the college bubble? How do you keep in touch with friends who live far away? I'm totally thinking a few more trips are in order...!

I'm so glad your trip went well! I haven't even gotten to college yet haha, but I know it is going to be hard for me to leave all of my friends behind when I leave!

It's definitely hard! I just moved to a new city where I have my boyfriend and one girlfriend...it's definitely tough meeting new people!

And I am certainly missing my close group of best girlfriends that I had in my college bubble! Road trips for games are certainly helpful!

Glad you had a great trip! I went on a girls trip last weekend, and it was much needed. The silver lining in having friends all over is you have great places to visit!

My best friend just moved back home after college, and Skype/Facetime obviously help. I do believe that distance and time factor in a lot when it comes to friendship (this sounds like Physics), though.

I was reunited with some of my best friends from college this weekend too back at Virginia Tech for homecoming! It's one of my favorite chances to see so many familiar faces, but like you, it always makes me miss having everyone so close because we all are so spread out now. Luckily, some of my girlfriends from college are starting to get engaged so we will have lots of reunions at their weddings!

Glad to hear you enjoyed Denver- I visited for the first time this spring and it's such a fun city!

Sounds like fun. It's definitely hard to balance friends from all different area's but planning little trips like yours is a perfect way to reconnect.

Sounds like you had a wonderful time! It is always so much time to take a trip with some girl friends, especially those you don't get to see very often!

Went back to school this past weekend actually for homecoming and I miss being around my friends all the time too, especially because I live so far from most of my friends and family!

It's so good to hear I'm not the only one! I just graduated from college and moved halfway across the country for my new job, leaving behind my boyfriend (for now) and all my friends. I've only been here a few weeks but I'm finding it difficult to make new friends!

sounds like such a great time! I've had the same group of great girlfriends since preschool and we all still keep in touch! Totally agree that post College it's really weird not having friends around all the time though! And I agree, making friends in NYC is hard..everyone is always so busy!

It is so hard in your mid-20s or right after college. My closest friends are the girls I met in college, and we are spread out across the East Coast (Miami to Boston). We try to stay as connected as possible. We recently made a pact to do a trip once a year so the four of us (who I am closest with out of the bigger group) are spending more quality time together.
But we're all going through so many different events and moments in life, so it is really hard!

I moved back to my hometown after college, so I re-connected with friends there from high school and even earlier than that. It's nice to have so many different friendships. Regardless of location, I know these girls are there for me.

I was JUST talking to my boyfriend about this over the weekend. Being new in New Orleans has been so difficult when it comes to meeting new people. And I've been missing my friends from Virginia and my college girlfriends. But it has definitely helped us all to make more of an effort to stay in touch and to plan little reunions. And it has forced me to get out of my comfort zone and meet new people. But still...I miss my friends!

Oh how timely that you post about this! It is so difficult to make friends in a new city out of college, especially if you work for yourself or are not in an office environment. Living across the country from college friends is rough but the blogging community has been WONDERFUL for new friendships and experiences. And being in New York you absolutely have an abundance! :) As a fellow recent college grad, I get ya girl ;)

I moved from Atlanta to the Nashville area with my husband when we got married last year and it's been pretty difficult to meet new girl friends! My college friends are scattered across the country so we don't get to see each other often. Plus, I just think making friends in the "real world" is a lot tougher than college because you're not constantly around other people your age. It definitely takes a conscious effort to form relationships. Luckily my husband is going through the same situation with me!

Making friends I find is never easy, especially in new and different environments outside of a comfortable environment such as school or college.

Even though my best friends and I don't go to the same school, we keep in touch by skyping at least once a week. That way you can vent to each other without having to write it all out in a text and you feel like you are actually with them!

I just moved to a new city far away from home and dearest friends from college. Its hard to make new friends in a city and in my graduate program. Everyone works or has a different schedule from me. Definitely looking forward to making some deeper connections with people the longer that I'm here.

I live in NYC as well and the only reason why I know as many people as I do is because I went to NYU. But so many of my friends have now moved across the country and the minute I have money/time, I want to visit them. Social media is a MAJOR help with staying in touch. I also joined my sorority's alum club to meet more people as well. It really is hard to meet good people in NYC. I'm glad your trip went well!!

Sounds like a great trip. My best friend of over a decade lives hours away, we try and see each other when we can and relish our time together (especially when it's just us - no bf/husbands). We also make a point of catching up, we talk often by phone but every Friday without fail we text and have a brief chat usually about the past week and the coming weekend. It's fun and makes sure we keep touching base with each other.
