DESIGN DARLING BLOGGER BRUNCH

Yesterday I hosted twenty of my very favorite bloggers for a fashion week escape on the rooftop of the Gramercy Park Hotel. This was really the first event I've ever planned and hosted and I'm so excited that it went off without a hitch! The blogger brunch was a wonderful excuse to don a pretty dress, gather friends from all over the country, and toast to the upcoming second anniversary of my boutique. Peach bellinis, pink peonies, and the most awesome, inspiring, and stylish bunch of young women... Really, what more could a girl want? Gratitude doesn't begin to cover it. Note to self: must do this again soon.

NEW YORK FASHION WEEK {FEELING LUCKY}

Oh boy. This week has been full of bad weather, endless errands, heavy traffic, you name it. Fashion Week starts on Thursday, conveniently following my month of no shopping (help!). I'm hosting a blogger brunch during Fashion Week that feels a little like planning a small wedding (the flowers! the food! the guest list!). I need to start looking at apartments since I have to move out in, oh, three weeks. I went out to walk Rory this morning and slipped on a patch of ice outside my door... It's just that kind of week.

But honestly I just feel super lucky right now. This is my fifth — fifth! — Fashion Week. Two years ago, attending a NYFW show was nothing more than a pipe dream on my first 101 in 1001 list. And now I'm stressed out about what to wear?! Forget it! I'm so giddy just to be a tiny part of it all. A new apartment means a slightly larger space in which my business can grow and our team can expand to include the people we need to really take things to the next level around here. And Rory... well, he's pretty much the light of my life, icy sidewalks and all.

And last but not least, there's you guys. Design Darling — the blog, the boutique, all of it — would be nothing without you. Because unlike the street style stars who will flock to Lincoln Center this week, I know at my core I'm still that 19-year-old girl pressing "publish" from my sorority dorm room at Bucknell, hoping my friends wouldn't make fun of me and wondering if anyone but my mom would ever read what I wrote. It's pretty wild what this space has become since then — I'll never stop thanking my lucky stars for all of it and all of you. All "what to wear?" moments aside, I have nothing but excitement for what the future has in store and I can't wait to have you along for the ride. Thank you to infinity and beyond — and NYFW, bring it on!

KATE SPADE SPRING 2014

New York Fashion Week is underway and I can't think of a better way to kick things off than with Kate Spade's Spring 2014 presentation this morning. I got to catch up with so many of my favorite bloggers (and hang with Carly, of course!) and I found more than a few things to add to my wishlist once the collection hits stores next year. Hello, little hot pink bow dress!

P.S. The Kate Spade gingham wedges I wore are sold out but here are a few things I'm loving on their site right now:

RAOUL FALL 2013

While I missed the pops of color from their spring presentation, Raoul's fall collection definitely did not disappoint. Beading, bows, jacquard, peplums, ruffles... Girly girl heaven. Shop my favorites from Raoul's current collection in the slideshow below (and click over from email or Google Reader if you can't see it!).

MILLY FALL 2013

Hands down the show I was most excited to attend this fashion week was Milly. (Seriously you should have seen the happy dance I did when the invitation appeared in my inbox!) My photos of the runway were pretty lousy (and you can find great ones right here!) so instead I thought I'd recap my own experience attending the show. First and foremost, in the interest of full disclosure: I was waiting in line for standing room with Kiel and Sarah when an usher asked us to fill empty seats in the fourth row — hello, dream come true! I always get nervous walking into these kinds of events by myself so it was great to connect with a couple friends and have a chance to catch up at our seats (!!!) before the show began.
I'm probably not alone in thinking that the people watching at Lincoln Center is just as fun as attending the actual shows. I loved how much that one girl's neon pink blazer popped against the rest of the crowd!
See what I mean about getting a good runway shot? So not my forte. I think it's the crazy bright lights coupled with how fast the models are strutting their stuff... Not to mention my own inexperience behind the camera. You know what they say: practice makes perfect! (Although I will say it's kind of cool to look at this and see everyone in the front row chit chatting about the look coming down the runway...!)
I do believe that's Kim Cattrall third from the right! Any other famous faces you recognize?
The overall set-up... I loved the bright white "M" front and center!
I'll never tire of blue and hot pink together. That look totally stole the show in my book ;) Are you a big Milly fan? I'm anxious to see this collection hit stores this fall but in the mean time I've highlighted some of my favorite pieces available now in the slideshow below (click over to see if you follow in Google Reader!).

KATE SPADE FALL 2013

It was such a treat to attend Kate Spade's fall presentation on Friday! I find I'm always happiest in a room full of bows, hot pink, and killer shoes ;) And I loved getting to catch up with blogger friends in from out of town. How gorgeous is Julia from Gal Meets Glam? Such a sweetheart. Stay tuned for pictures from other presentations and shows I'm attending this week — so proud of myself for actually lugging my real camera around for once!
