A French Affair

My French host mom was sweet enough to send over these lovely photos of my host sister Camille's wedding in July. The bridesmaids and groomsmen are replaced by enfants d'honneur whose adorable blue and yellow outfits — Peter Pan collars and pleated skirts included! — my host mom sewed over the course of my semester abroad. That's my host mom, Marine, in the last photo with the newlyweds, Alexandre and Camille, and my host dad, Arnaud. Don't they look lovely? Such fun to see how it all came together!

Canopy Beds

There are few things more sublime than a canopy bed draped dramatically in pale fabric. To get the look in your own home, start with a simple platform bed and invest in a canopy crown. Imagine closing the drapes for a cozy night's sleep and opening them to sunshine streaming through the windows each morning... It's the eye mask 2.0!

Designer Treehouses

I'm certain I would enjoy having a treehouse as much today as I would have ten years ago. Granted these aren't your average set-up — we're talking spiral staircases, rope bridges, and wraparound porches! Wouldn't it be fun to "camp out" or watch the sun set from one of these darling dwellings? A childhood dream come true!

Madewell Must-Haves

Cotswold Vest
Sequin Panel Top
Centerpiece Tee

Get Spotted Scarf
It's pretty safe to say I'm smitten with every last one of Madewell's new arrivals. A cozy vest for foggy fall mornings... A sequined tank for nights on the town... The perfect t-shirt-with-a-twist... A pretty polka dot scarf in my new favorite color combo... What's not to love?

A Masculine Motif

{Tommy Smythe}

{My work featured on Design*Sponge}

As you may recall, I've been searching high and low for masculine interior inspiration. Now I'm not much for antlers or taxidermy, but I adore the graphic appeal of the American flag and the Union Jack. Paired with handsome hard woods and dark matte walls, these motifs lend masculine allure and patriotic flair. I even painted my Anglophile boyfriend, who spent last semester studying business in London, a Union Jack campaign dresser! What do you think?

A Different Kind of Cape

I'm smitten with the newest shape for fall: the poncho-esque silhouette of the cape coat. Belted, hooded, or paired with a scarf, it is the perfect piece to keep you snug and sophisticated this season. Whatever your plans this weekend, I hope you'll find a way to stay cozy, healthy, and happy! Until Monday, my dears!

Think Pink

In honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I thought we'd dedicate a day to all things pink: fabulous cocktail dresses, tufted chairs, and unforgettable art. Don't you adore the top photo of Miranda Kerr? I would love a hot pink dress for my sorority's formals this year — pair it with a little turquoise à la Cameron Diaz and call it a night!

Style Icon {Nicole Richie}

She's grown up a lot since The Simple Life, hasn't she? Wavy tresses, floor-length dresses, and fistfuls of costume jewelry... Nicole Richie has a casually chic style that's all her own.

Amy Claire on Swirl

We all love Daily Candy. But did you know they've launched their own private sale website as well? It's called Swirl and suffice it to say I'm obsessed. I find that their selection is better curated than those of other invite-only sales (Gilt, Hautelook, and Rue La La to name a few) and more tailored to items I would actually wear or, more importantly, brands I can actually afford. Take today's sale on Amy Claire for instance: easy separates, cocktail dresses, and floor-length numbers for up to 75% off? Sign me up!

Karen Appleton

Crush
Melt
Ginkgo
I'm seriously smitten with these oil paintings by Chicago artist Karen Appleton. I happened to stumble upon the last painting on Patterson Maker's lovely tumblr and subsequently fell in love with the rest of Karen's work. The colors are so beautifully nuanced and the subject matter nothing short of girlish whimsy. For more information, check out her website and her blog.
