COLD WEATHER NECESSITIES

It's absolutely freezing in New York right now — the kind of cold that hurts the second you step outside and that prompts you to run to CVS for a new moisturizer because you're pretty sure your face is going to fall off. But enough about how much I love winter! ;) Here are a few cold weather necessities in heavy rotation right now...

What are some of your winter must-haves? Do share before I leave for Salt Lake City tomorrow... If I can't handle 28 degrees, I can only imagine how pleasant I'll be at 14 ;)

P.S. Thanks for your awesome NYC recommendations! I've made a master list and already started crossing off a few of your favorites. (All I can say is you all have great taste!) I'll be sure to share on the blog but in the mean time if you're planning a trip or just looking to try a new spot, I highly suggest browsing the comments right here!

Keep up with Design Darling

I am so not cut out for the cold weather and it's freezing this week in NC, so these recommendations could not have come at a better time! Hope you are staying warm!

I know they're not stylish at all but I live in my UGGs when it's cold. It's currently -20 here (about 9 degrees Fahrenheit) and its freezing!

These are all so great! I make sure I always wear warm socks no matter what shoes I wear (well except flats then I suffer).

Oh my goodness Mackenzie, you are going to have such a great time in Salt Lake! Our Park City house is always filled with vaseline and nivea, they are the best for dry skin and lips! Also I drink a ton of water, it helps with my skin, as well as fighting any potential signs of altitude sickness! Have so much fun.

Long underwear, seriously.

Don't forget lip balm! In this weather, original blistex is the only thing that saves my lips from getting super chapped.

I'm lucky enough to live in Tennessee, so I don't have to worry about extreme temps. When it's cold out though, I definitely need my Cuddl Duds! They are like long johns but super soft :)

I feel your pain, it was ZERO in chicago this morning. Add some toasty warm boots and I think you're set!

...and maybe I would add to that list a little Bailey's to sneak in that coffee ;)

You didn't have lip balm listed, but I'm sure you know to include that! I'm a fan of Burt's Bees, it's waxy enough to last, but not as nasty as Chapstick. Try the honey flavored, it's wonderful!

Aquaphor is a complete lifesaver for chapped lips. I have one in about every purse at all times!

Crazy cold 9 degrees in Ohio too yuck! I made a batch of chicken and rice soup to warm me from the inside out!

I just ended my NYC vacation this morning. As if it wasn't depressing enough to leave, I came back to 0-degree weather in Chicago. Boo!

It's been in the single digits in upstate NY recently and since I'm a college student my lifestyle necessitates that I walk everywhere. It's brutal to say the least! My best temperature recommendation is to layer, layer, layer!
