bucknell orange

maybe it's my school spirit or my "red" hair piping up but lately i've been very drawn to bursts of orange in clothing and home décor. whether you go wild with an all-orange ensemble or keep it simple with a couple well-placed interior accessories, i hope you'll be equally inspired by these pretty examples.
the girl who never gets it wrong: olivia palermo knows when to keep it simple and when to go for broke.
a tangerine hue for the structured silhouette of amber valletta's dress and the walls of this vibrant home office.
an oft-blogged-about vignette that i still can't get over: punchy mirrors flanked by pretty topiaries.
floral or ruffled, orange can have a wonderfully whimsical impact.
red-orange works beautifully on the sartorialist's muse and this chair featured in real simple.
the stunning jessica stam and a one-of-a-kind dining room show that orange and black doesn't have to mean halloween.

black and blue

...in a good way! i think. i've been noticing lots of navy blue and black combinations both in fashion and interior design and thought i'd ask you, my very fashionable readers, to weigh in. does it work? would you try it? let's hear it!
black and blue with a dash of red. do we love it?
olivia palermo and this girl from stockholm street style think it's a go.
do we like mary kate's navy blazer with her all black ensemble? how about the blue curtains and black chairs chosen by nate berkus?
designer darryl wilson's living room and german beauty diane kruger make a convincing case... but i want to hear from you! lay it on me.

black was never gone

the coldest and snowiest french winter in years could only mean one thing: more black. as the stylish french continue to rock the black-coat-on-black-sweater-on-black-pants-on-black-boots, i thought it wise to assemble some good-looking celebrities and interiors to celebrate the tried and true black-on-black combination.

all black walls and an all black outfit — risks that paid off for this foyer and nicole richie.

mary kate olsen's geek chic finds a home in aerin lauder's cozy home office.
high-fashion black goes casual in drew barrymore's shirt-and-skirt combo and this painted matte backsplash.
city glamour with a hint of sparkle à la olivia palermo.

winter white

as much as i am attracted to color, i love the feeling of a white room. whether it's in a bathroom or a kitchen, there's something about winter white that screams endless possibilities. white is simultaneously calming and clean, neutral and bright. {photo credits in image titles.}
white walls, white windows, white cabinetry, white chairs, white flowers... yet there's nothing bland about it.
like a big huge snowball, but better.
the best kind of holiday decoration: subtle. i want to show this room to all the people with colored lights and inflatable santas just to remind them that christmas can indeed be done in good taste. earthy garland, shiny ornaments, plus-size pinecones, a fire going strong... this is what christmas should be.
exquisite white moulding and window panes.
white floors = absolute genius.
wouldyoulookatthatfireplace? therearenowords.
not exactly my taste but i adore the framed chair prints and the way they pop against that white wall.
i can say with certainty that i would never leave this shower.
