The Cold Shoulder

Asymmetrical black dresses are everywhere right now. Do you prefer Kate Moss' glamorous take or Gwyneth Paltrow's more laid-back vibe?

Erin Rocks My World

I just ordered these fabulous Jeffrey Campbell flats off of Shopbop. Surely they're worth the full $130, but the icing on the cake is that they were just $30 thanks to the generous gift certificate that I won on Apartment #34! Expanding my shoe collection? Just one more reason to love Erin and her gorgeous blog. You simply must stop by and say hello. Merci beaucoup, mon amie!

Leather-Bound

The Clutch in Natural

Vintage RUST BROWN Large Doctor Bag
I've been noticing a leather-loving trend in my Etsy favorites lately: the perfectly simple eyeglass case, a chic linen clutch, and a fabulous travel bag — all done up in rich tan leather. Parfait!

White Walls, Black Accents

I love these light and bright spaces offset by dark accent walls. Peppered with rows and rows of books, the look oozes with effortless sophistication that's delightfully gender neutral.

P.S. This is my 300th post! Here's to many, many more :)

Jump On It

These black jumpsuits are the epitome of effortless modern chic. Wear yours with a scarf à la Kate Hudson or better yet paired with a leopard shoe like Diane Kruger. To die for!

TREND ALERT Large Brass Elephant

The Original Chalk Board Horse - Obsidian

vintage dark leather rhinoceros
I'm inexplicably pining after these vintage statues of some of my favorite animals — the elephant being number one, of course! I think the little lion would make a darling paperweight while the horse and the rhinoceros ought to come live in my bookshelves. What are your thoughts?

Lovely Layers

These super chic ladies know the secret to staying warm in this weather: layering! Stock your closet with chunky knits, lightweight scarves, and tailored blazers for a well-rounded wardrobe that will transition effortlessly from fall into winter.

Portraiture

I'm head over heels for the larger-than-life portraits in these two spaces. I love the Native American man but I'm certain an enlarged black-and-white family photo would have the same transformative impact. Do you prefer these over a more traditional gallery wall?

Cut That Out

A well-placed cut-out can do wonders! An exaggerated keyhole creates the illusion of cleavage while side cut-outs emphasize a trim waist. Would you dare to try the look for yourself?

Let's Talk Turquoise

Whether it's used in a pale-hued stairwell or the depths of a swimming pool, turquoise possesses a power that few other colors do. Equal parts energizing and relaxing, it works just as well on the walls as it does on a pair of club chairs in a Wearstler-designed hotel bar.

Champagne Shimmer

Who knew neutrals could be such show-stoppers? Forgo dark winter wear in favor of fair skin paired with blush tones and a hint of sparkle. I know Halloween was only yesterday but now you've got your look for New Year's Eve down pat!

A French Affair

My French host mom was sweet enough to send over these lovely photos of my host sister Camille's wedding in July. The bridesmaids and groomsmen are replaced by enfants d'honneur whose adorable blue and yellow outfits — Peter Pan collars and pleated skirts included! — my host mom sewed over the course of my semester abroad. That's my host mom, Marine, in the last photo with the newlyweds, Alexandre and Camille, and my host dad, Arnaud. Don't they look lovely? Such fun to see how it all came together!

Canopy Beds

There are few things more sublime than a canopy bed draped dramatically in pale fabric. To get the look in your own home, start with a simple platform bed and invest in a canopy crown. Imagine closing the drapes for a cozy night's sleep and opening them to sunshine streaming through the windows each morning... It's the eye mask 2.0!
