52 + 53

My family has a goal to see all fifty states together. It doesn't count if just one or two of us visits; all six must be there in order to check a state off the list. So far we've seen 33 states, a list of which you can see in the sidebar HERE. Two of the items on my 101 in 1001 list pertain to this family goal and they are...
52. Figure out the best way to keep track of our family's travels...
53. ...And make progress by crossing at least one more state off our list!

I stumbled upon this map ($60) on Etsy and I think it'd be a fantastic way to note our family's travels. Now to plot our next trip... Shall it be Arizona, Arkansas, Hawaii, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Minnesota, Missouri, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, or West Virginia? ;)

Have you done lots of traveling within the U.S.? How do you keep track of your travels?

haha that is so funny - that's one of my life goals! except it counts if I go on my own. it would be impossible if I had to have my whole family there too! I vote either Texas, Hawaii or New Mexico

LOVE it thanks for sharing!

I am bias...but go to Texas you will love it all! I have decided to start tracking my traveling in a leather notebook I got in Italy this past summer and hope to write a little about each trip as they go!

I love this idea! I buy a magnet in every state I visit, I have the same goal only it is just for myself. Such a fun way to appreciate our lovely country!

I have a map of the world, and whenever I go someplace new, I stick a pin in that city. It gives me a sense of accomplishment. (Confession: I got the idea from a movie.) :)

As for where to go, I loved Minnesota (in the summer). My family explored Minneapolis/St. Paul and we visited friends on a lake out in the country. It was wonderful!

Such a great idea! I think that you should go some place warm next - then you can wear all the cute summery pieces you've been posting lately.

A lot of people are voting for Minnesota, and you should swing through IOWA as well. It is a great state!

What a cute idea! My husband and I buy Christmas ornaments from each place we travel to, and then get to reminisce over our travels every Christmas. But, this way you can have it up all year long, which is really fun!:)

That map is too cute! My vote is for AZ for your next state :) I would be happy to show you around! Plus you can easily hit up Nevada or New Mexico from here.

i actually found a map idea JUST like this one - but it was of the world - and to color in the places you've visited - LOVE the idea!

This map is amazing! I just ordered one! Thanks for the tip. And good luck with your travel plans. My brother in law and his wife quit their jobs and home schooled their kids for a year and drove all over the country in an RV. They have the best stories. I think they went to a game in every single baseball stadium in the MBL since they are big b-ball fans along with many other cool adventures. Anyway, it sounds like the experience of a lifetime although I'm not sure I could do the RV part for an ENTIRE YEAR!

I've actually done more traveling outside of the states, then within my own country - how sad is that??? LOVE the map, though - I think I need to find one that has the whole world on it, though! lol

ps. just found your site randomly through a twitter "do you want to add this person" suggestion. As I just moved to Boston and am dying to get to know more of the new england blogging community, the opportunity to start following you just couldn't be passed up. :-)

Texas! You'll never hear a bad word about Austin.

Hawaii, of course!

If you want to go to Texas, make sure you go before mid-May or after mid-September. Unless you like boiling in the tenth degree of hell, of course. (I wish I were joking.)

So if it's Tennessee, you'll have to let me know so I can put together a must-see list. Obviously Dollywood is at the top, as it should be.

This is a great idea! I've done a decent amount of traveling to other states and have been trying to figure out a way to track my traveling as well! I really like this! As for what's next? I say Hawaii! (It's on my to do list right now as well!)

OMG - this is awesome! I had a goal of seeing all 50 states before I turned 25 and I made it! My rules were just that I had to physically be in the state - driving through counted - and I had such a blast reaching this goal! Good luck to you and yours - traveling around this country is one of my favorite things!

I love both the family trip idea and this little map to match! How cute are you?

I'm going to go against the grain here and give a shout out to West Virginia, because I searched the comments and am fairly certain no one suggested it. My family took a trip to WV in my teens and went whitewater rafting. Random, but true. There's nothing going on there, but it's pretty.

Or you could just go to Hawaii. :)

MINESOOOOTA! That's where I call home and I have lived in many wonderful states. Everyone is super nice (google 'Minnesota Nice') and you just can't beat the Mall of America...best shopping in the world, even over NYC.

Wherever you choose, you will have an amazing time I'm sure. Traveling with family is the best! :)
