One of my favorite styling tricks lately (seen here and here) is to take an oversized shirt and tie it at the hem. The best part? It's easy to do with a slightly boxier boys' shirt like these...
Ralph Lauren big pony shirt // Ralph Lauren stripe shirt (on crazy sale!)
Crewcuts gingham shirt // Brooks Brothers tennis shirt (also on sale!)
The fit is perfect for scrunching up the sleeves and knotting the bottom! You'd be surprised at how generous the fit is (particularly with Ralph Lauren where the fit goes up to size 20!) and how much lower the price can be relative to comparable women's designs. Just be sure to check the size chart before you order! Have any of you ever worn boys' shirts before? Don't knock it 'til you try it! :)

I used to do this when I worked at a restaurant and we had to wear white button-down shirts. The boys shirts were so much cuter!
adorable! ive always been jealous of my little guy's wardrobe!
My younger brother went through a preppy face and got 3 gingham shirts from Kohls. I "swiped" them and swear by them!!!!
I am totally with you and all about wearing the little boys button downs! xx
I wore one of my brothers button downs once as a costume...I should've thought about doing this a long time ago!!
One of my biggest style secrets is wearing girls size clothing :)
Brilliant. Absolutely love it.
YES!! even better, I get my brother's hand-me-downs. He's three and a half years younger, but six inches taller, so they're the perfect shirts to tailor to my size. Love them!!
Yes! I wear J Crew's men's blue oxford shirts nonstop in the winter... under sweaters, tucked in on their own, over leggings, and you can belt them too.
I shop the boys and girls departments, especially Crew Cuts. Last fall, as I complained about gaining (a little) weight, my girlfriend said to me in the JCrew dressing rooms..."You can wear children's clothing from JCrew! I don't want to hear a word about the weight you've gained!" ;)
I do the same over '50s-style dresses with fitted waists. makes them do double duty as a skirt!
