TOP IT OFF

Around this time each summer my attention starts to drift toward fall fashion in spite, or perhaps because, of the ninety degree heat. It's probably my favorite season to shop dress for — blazers, button-downs, light sweaters, layering! Of course fall is a long way off on the east coast so I'm trying to focus on transitional pieces that will work from now through September or October. Above are a few of the pieces catching my eye: the most delightfully preppy sweater, a cool blazer (for less than $200!), a beautifully made dress shirt, and a just-edgy-enough tank that will look as cool with white jeans now as it will with fall blazers later.

What's your summer-into-fall shopping strategy? Do you set a budget for each season? I'm dying to hear!

I'm a huge button-down fan too! And I normally just purchase blouses and maxi's in the summer, and then layer them for fall.

I'm loving the blazer in this post too! Really gorgeous :)

There are a few blazers from the J.Crew sale that I would absolutely love to use for both summer and fall! A new leather jacket is next on my list!

i love that double collar shirt! in san diego, it's either summer or fall/spring weather all the time so i buy clothes i can wear all year long. because it may be below 50 one day in the june and 95 in the middle of december. i pretty much own a closet full of button downs and layering pieces like sweaters and blazers.

I have been eyeing that double collar shirt for the longest time! It so perfect! I also love buying clothes for the fall. It also is my favorite season to dress for. I usually spurge on a few items each season.

Xoxo,

Love the blazer. I focus on hues and fabrics that will work with my existing fall layering pieces. You can find plenty in the summer sales, which is kind to my wallet.

I love cardigans for the fall! I try and invest in ones that will lead me through the awkward phase in between spring and winter, where it's not warm enough of spring colors!
I'm also a huge fan of tights/leggings with shorts. If I can layer it, I will wear it!
