Madewell Shoes

I generally identify more with J.Crew than Madewell but the latter has been nailing it in the shoe department lately. (Don't even get me started on these leopard pumps — too perfect for words!)

(3) Suede Sandstorm Boot — I have these and love them! (4) Leopard Print Film Noir Pump
(5) Watchtower Boot (6) Suede Sidewalk Skimmer — only $88!

Seriously, how's a girl to choose?

Girly Girl

A monogrammed shade, quilted boots, and sequins galore! I'm sensing a trend in the items I'm saving to Currently Obsessed and Pinterest. Who says prepsters can't be girly girls as well?

(1) Nicole Cohen print (2) Sperry Top-Sider boots — only $88!
(3) Shades of Light lampshade — I'm obsessed! (4) Moleskine notebook
(8) Michael Kors passport case (9) Kate Spade heels — a forever favorite!

I don't care to toot my own horn but I'm rather convinced that monogrammed lampshade is the find of the year — and a must-have for design darlings everywhere ;) Which is your favorite?

10 Classic Accessories Every Girl Should Own

Let's talk about online shopping, shall we? There are times that I fall in love with something and buy it straight away for fear that it'll sell out and I'll have missed my chance. (That's the only way these pants found their way to my closet — in two colors.) And when I'm spending my money on impulse buys and offline necessities, it's actually the classics that fall by the wayside.

Why replace my favorite white t-shirt when this pink bow skirt might sell out at a moment's notice? I have a hunch that I'm not the only one who shops like this, so I've made a list of 10 classic accessories I think every girl should own. It might not be the most colorful list, but it guarantees you'll have everything you need when you buy something you want.

(1) Monogram necklace (2) Tortoise sunglasses (3) Diamond studs — These are faux but have the same sparkle! (4) Classic wallet (5) Everyday bracelet (6) Pearl studs — These are just $20! (7) Tan bag — I am in love with this shape! (8) Ankle boots (9) Ballet flats — I love my Tory Burch Revas! (10) Everyday watch — This gold and tortoise number is perfect!

What do you think? Anything else we should add to the list?

Be My Guest

I was delighted to fill in for these lovely ladies with a few more gift guides this holiday season! Here's what I've been up to...

Definitely stop in to say hi...or finish up your holiday shopping ;)

Black + White

We all have those moments when we stare at a closet overflowing with clothes and think, "I have absolutely nothing to wear." It's easy to look at something you've worn a hundred times and feel less than enthused about wearing it again. This week I'm reminding myself that I can always fall back on classic black and white, especially when it looks this good...

My go-to color has long been navy blue so this is a nice reminder to go back to basics. What's your tried-and-true color combination?

Red + Pink

I almost never blog about the color red. The reason is pretty simple: as a redhead, I try to stay far, far away. But then my friend Bailey pinned these two ensembles and got my creative juices flowing...

First of all, Emma Stone is a redhead. Second, both of these ladies look fantastic in red and pink. I decided that maybe, just maybe, if I wore pink on top and kept the red away from my hair, I could give it a go.

{1} Tibi silk top, $160 {2} Loren Hope necklace, $88
{7} Michael Kors ring, $85

If you prefer long sleeves à la Emma and SJP, I'm also liking this hot pink top. What do you think? Could I pull it off? Would you ever pair red and pink?

GIFT GUIDE: EVERYTHING UNDER $100

We've done gifts under $25 and gifts under $50 so now it's time for gifts under $100! These are lovely little luxuries for the most wonderful women in your life. I'd try to pick a favorite but I'm afraid it's no use...

Whether you fancy a classic monogram, a cozy pajama set, or a life-of-the-party clutch, I hope you've found something you love! I'll be back tomorrow with a gift guide for the boys. What are your favorite gifts under $100?

Shop C. Wonder Online!!!

If you follow me on Twitter, you'll know that I've made multiple pilgrimages to C. Wonder since its launch this fall. I can't get enough of the cheery staff, colorful decor, and reasonable prices! Lucky for those of you outside the tristate area, I'm thrilled to share that C. Wonder's e-commerce site is now live! Here are a few pieces I have my eye on...

I'm obsessed with the sapphire blue foo dogs and the tortoise tumbler in particular. And when I move into NYC, you best believe that bike is mine, all mine! Have you been to C. Wonder? What's your favorite piece on the website?

GIFT GUIDE: EVERYTHING UNDER $25

I'm excited to share the first of several gift guides to help with your holiday shopping. Each gift guide will be labeled by price point (plus a separate one for the boys!). All of these under $25 items would be darling gifts for your girlfriends or even stocking stuffers for yourself!

Aren't those matchbooks the cutest things you ever did see? I'm also smitten with the striped planner and the totally affordable lacquer boxes! How chic would they be stacked in bookshelves or on your desk? What are your favorite under $25 gifts?

Weathering Winter

We're fast approaching that time of year when the weather outside is prohibitively cold. I'm embarrassed to admit that I literally decide whether to go out and run an errand based on how freezing I will be between my front door and my car... And it's only bound to get worse as winter progresses. Fortunately I found a little ice cold inspiration in this ensemble over on my very favorite style blog, Atlantic-Pacific:

Blair has a knack for mixing colors and patterns that I think goes unrivaled among personal style bloggers. I'm constantly wishing I could come up with the looks she does, which is why I thought we might all use a little lesson from one of her recent outfits. Topped with a warm coat (I love mine!), this layered look is key for surviving winter in style.

Hunter gloss boots, $125 (I have these in black but love a bright color for gray days!)

What are your tricks for weathering winter?

Tied With A Bow

When it comes to giving gifts, presentation is everything. Even the tiniest present feels special if it's packaged with care! Here are a few odds and ends that I'm excited to incorporate into my gift giving this season...

Currently Coveting {Tortoiseshell}

If there's one trend I can't get enough of this season, it's the resurgence of tortoiseshell accessories for your closet and your home. My friend Alex sent me a picture of gorgeous tortoiseshell bowls at C. Wonder (if you're in NYC and haven't been, you must!) and I'm thinking they'd be the perfect complement to a few of these...

{1} House of Harlow 1960 sunglasses, $125 (I love the gold border on these!)
{5} Michael Kors bracelet, $95 (This is my personal favorite!)

Which piece is your favorite? Do you have any beloved tortoiseshell items?

Having A Moment {Cobalt}

I hope you'll all hop over to Houzz today where I'm debuting my very first idea book! I'm excited to share twenty cool products in keeping with the cobalt trend in fashion and decor. Think this bargain X bench, my favorite bar cart, and even a solar-powered globe! So. Cool.

What I'd Like To Be Wearing Today

I'm having one of those "I have nothing to wear" days...

I'd like to hit refresh in a striped blouse, color-blocked sandals, and timeless accessories. What do you wish you were wearing today?

Design Darling on Tumblr!

I'm excited to invite you to the virtual inspiration board I've been working on! It's an easy way for me to save images I stumble upon without stopping to craft them into a real blog post. More importantly, however, I'd like it to become an informal space where I can interact with all of you! I've enabled the "ask" feature so you can fire away with questions about fashion, interior design, or whatever else strikes your fancy. Ask away HERE!
{This gorgeousness and more on Design Darling's brand new Tumblr. Check it out HERE!}

Monday Moodboard

Just a handful of pretty things that are making sense to me as I pack my bags today in search of my next adventure.

Get The Look {Mary McDonald}

With all the buzz about her show Million Dollar Decorators, I thought it would be fun to revisit one of my favorite Mary McDonald interiors. The pink walls equate to instant happiness in my book!
I love that she thought outside the box and upholstered the chairs in the same hue as the walls of the foyer. The vintage pagoda mirror is a glamorous accent to blue and white stripes and ginger jars.
Pairing pinks of different shades makes for a layered look that's classic but fun. The large print on the Lisa Fine rug makes the small seating area look bigger.

To recreate a similar look in your own home, start with pretty pinks for the sofa and the rug. They're a far cry from run-of-the-mill neutrals but how could you ever tire of hot pink? Balance the bright color with pillows and vases in a traditional blue and white palette. What do you think of this look? Would you ever go this bright chez vous?

Post-Weekend Wishlist

One thing about meeting style bloggers in person (see weekend pictures here!) is that it ignites a serious desire to shop. Suddenly you're uninspired by your own wardrobe and stand in front of your closet thinking, "I have nothing to wear." Here are a few things from Shopbop that I'm eyeing these days...

You know, so I have something to wear. What's on your wishlist right now?

P.S. I'm sharing a Luxury Monograms idea board over here today!

My Dream [Summer] Home

I noticed I was pinning images that belonged in a separate folder for my one-day summer home and decided to share an idea board with you. Weathered shingles, abundant gardens, natural light, porch swings, painted floors, bunk beds, the list goes on...
