AUSTIN RECOMMENDATIONS?

Because you were all so helpful in planning my trip to Atlanta in January, I thought I'd defer to you again for your dining and shopping recommendations in Austin! My boyfriend and I are headed there this weekend as it's one of his favorite cities and I've never been! I'm so excited to see what the city has to offer. So far I've been told not to miss Elizabeth Street Café (pictured above) and Josephine House. What are your Austin favorites? Thank you in advance! xx

It sounds silly... but visit the original Whole Foods store and try a breakfast burrito. Life changing.

Also, make sure to visit Uncommon Objects; a kooky store full of, well, "uncommon objects" but also great jewelry.

Austin is the best of the best. Have fun!!

Torchy's Tacos has locations around the city and the absolute best queso for dipping. My favorite spot is here: http://www.yelp.com/biz/south-austin-trailer-park-and-eatery-austin

It's the best place to sit outside and enjoy delicious tacos and yummy desserts from Holy Cacao, one of the other trucks - they have adorable cake pops! Have fun in Austin!

Go down to South Congress and take it all in! There are so many fun restaurants down there. If you're feeling a tasty burger and a milkshake, go to Hopdoddy's and get the Nutella Pretzel milkshake, so delicious! Or brunch at Perla's is so fun...their french toast is to die for. You can always hit up East Side Cafe or Hyde Park Grill for a cozy and delicious dinner as well. And if you want an outrageous dessert, go to Gourdoughs! It's a food truck on south 1st street that serves crazy gourmet donuts as big as your head! I go to school in Austin at UT and it is such a wonderful place. I know you'll love it! Enjoy! And also, go to 360 Outlook or Mount Bonnell to watch the sunset over the entire city, it's a magical view at either place.

Definitely check out Hillside Farmacy! Their brunch is amazing! If you're into sushi, I highly recommend Sushi Nichi on 24th street. Also, you have to check out Amy's Ice-cream while you're in town!

Anything on South Congress will be fun. Lots of great food and shopping. Zilker Park. Barton Springs Pool. Trudy's - great Mexican food. Salt Lick BBQ. Duchman Winery. (these two are a little out of Austin).

Also try looking at 365thingsaustin.com. They'll have anything you could think of to do on that site. :)

Salt Lick BBQ is absolutely the best! Also, go swimming in Barton Springs if you have the chance. It's so fun! Enjoy your time in Austin!

South Congress cafe for weekend brunch is an absolute must! They don't take reservations, but you can call ahead and put your name on the waiting list.

SnoBeach is a shaved ice food truck that is out of this world. Make sure to get ice cream on the bottom and cream on top!

The best breakfast tacos are at a quaint little place called Taco Shack - locations all around town.

Kerby Lane cafe is necessary for late night - you haven't lived until you've had Kerby Queso.

For night light - the W is great for drinks, West 6th - especially Star Bar and the Ranch are my favorites.

Email me at adoredbyalex@gmail.com if you'd like more recommendations! After four years of college there, I've got quite the list of recs :)

Was there in January. South Congress Cafe - fish tacos AND carrot cake French toast are to Die for! Amazing cocktails! BBQ, Deep Eddy Vodka, bar crawl on 'dirty 6th' and the flagship Whole Foods. Oh and Gourdough's truck for life changing (huge) doughnuts!!!!!

Walton's Fancy & Staple (one of Sandra Bullock's places!) is a super cute lunch spot. My other favorite lunch spot is FoodHeads. As mentioned, Hillside Farmacy is pretty cute too. My favorite spots for brunch are Moonshine (Sunday buffet!), 24 diner, and Russell's Bistro (great food, great atmosphere). For a casual dinner, Hut's Hamburgers, Hula Hut (Tex Mex on Lake Austin!), and Mandola's are great. Uchi is a splurge-worthy dinner, if you're looking to spend. At night, I love getting smores at Halycon. But one of my favorite spots in the city is Mozart's Coffee Roasters! I hope you have a great trip!

I thought of you when I drove by Josephine House today... They just planted pink geraniums, to go with their navy house- it's like they know you're coming! If you run out of time to catch a meal there, at least go grab a drink in the afternoon & sit out on their lawn & people watch! Enjoy your time this weekend & welcome to the 512!
